Axé Italia Onlus

The Association Axé Italia Onlus was founded in Florence in 2004 to raise awareness of the pedagogical project developed by Projeto Axé in Brazil and to generate funds to support its work so that it might benefit ever more children.
Following the reorganisation and strengthening of the Association and its management structure, in July 2009 its headquarters transferred to Rome.

The Association Axé Italia Onlus aims to:

  • Promote Projeto Axé as an example of excellence in the social rehabilitation and education of street children;

  • Publicise the activities and content of Projeto Axé, and in particular the high level of training offered in dance, music, capoeira and fashion design;

  • Improve the visibility, reputation and image of Projeto Axé, including through the organisation of events involving the youngsters: tours for the dancers and musicians, art exhibitions and fashion shows, courses and workshops for the fashion designers, etc;


  • Involve celebrities, including musicians and performing artists, who are willing to use their profile to highlight the activities and achievements of Projeto Axé; some are already long-term supporters;


  • Facilitate the spread of the pedagogical methodology developed by Projeto Axé through the distribution of teaching materials and information and the promotion of seminars, conferences and training courses in Italy;


  • Organise the exchange of teachers, operators and young students between Brazil and Italy/EU countries;


  • Raise funds in Italy and other EU countries to support the activities of Projeto Axé in Brazil and help it to expand;


  • Sensitise potential partners to the possibility of supporting Projeto Axé financially and/or playing an active part in its development.
