Projeto Axé works with children and adolescents from the streets, using appropriate pedagogical tools to stimulate them to dream and desire. The ability to hope and desire is the only indication that a person is alive. Projeto Axé's methodology is based on three basic principles: children become Subjects; desire is the guarantee that a person “is alive”; rights have greater value when accompanied by the idea and practice of responsibilities. This methodology is inspired by the thinking of Piaget, Freud and Lacan, and is based on the work of the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire. In this context, ArtEducation (dance, capoeira, music, visual arts, fashion) proves to be the best tool – nothing stimulates dreams and desires better than Art.
